On January 23, 2021, RSHM novices, Elizabeth Miti, Naomi Muulu and Lesley Amandah Mukonyora celebrated their first profession of vows at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Pampulha, Belo Horoizonte, Brazil. While the pandemic precluded guests from attending in person, the entire Institute as well as families and friends were able to attend virtually. A global community celebrated this joyous occasion where the new sisters received the RSHM cross inscribed with the Institute’s motto: Ut Vitam Habeant (that all may have life and have it to the full).
During this time of first commitment, our new RSHM sisters will strive “to identify more closely with Jesus Christ and his mission; deepen their understanding of living a consecrated life in community; and confirm that each one’s personal call is in accord with the charism of the Institute.”
(Constitutions #69)
Sisters Elizabeth, Lesley and Naomi, grateful for the love and support of all across the Institute, now prepare to embark on their first mission during this challenging time. Elizabeth and Naomi, who are from Zambia, will be missioned to Zambia. Lesley, who is from Zimbabwe, and will be missioned to Mozambique. Let us send our prayers as they begin the next phase of their journey, as we remember the words of our founder, Pere Jean Gailhac, “….Have strength and courage, you do not work alone, Jesus will be with you.”
