“Earth, Sea, and Sky,” Cormaria’s Iyengar yoga and Pranayama program, was enjoyed by twenty two women, over three days. Iyengar yoga is a journey in which poses are carefully sequenced to create maximum benefit. Using physical alignment to create lightness in mind and body, it is a form of yoga anyone can do. It builds strength, concentration, balance and power. The results can be profound. As stated in the Yoga Sutras, “Perfection in a pose is achieved when the effort to perform it becomes effortless and the infinite being within is reached.” An integral aspect of yoga, Pranayama, the practice of focused breathing, was also used as a preliminary step for meditation.
